The short version

Chit's invoice tool has no server-side backend. There is no database. Your business details, your clients' details, and every invoice you create are stored only in your browser's local storage, on your own device. We — the people who run this site — cannot see them, do not receive them, and have no way to access them even if we wanted to.

What is stored, and where

• Browser local storage (your device only): your business profile, logo, and saved invoices.
• Nothing is sent to our servers when you use the invoice generator. Clearing your browser's site data, or using a different browser or device, will remove this information — there is no backup copy held by us, so export anything important as a PDF.

Advertising and cookies

This site shows advertising served by Google AdSense to cover hosting costs. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies — including the DoubleClick cookie — to serve ads based on a visitor's prior visits to this site or other sites on the internet. This allows Google and its partners to serve ads that may be more relevant to you.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

Analytics

If this site uses an analytics service (such as Google Analytics) to understand visitor numbers, that service may set its own cookies and collect standard technical data (browser type, approximate location, pages visited). It does not have access to anything you type into the invoice tool, since that data never leaves your browser.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this page as the site evolves. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
